Youth Director Job Description

Purpose The purpose of the Youth Director is to implement a Propose Driven youth ministry while learning skills and experiences for ongoing youth ministry.
Responsibilities
  1. Build healthy relationships with our youth to identify key needs and concerns that can be addressed and to minister to their spiritual needs. (Note: Refer a member of the youth group to receive appropriate counsel when needed. Information on abuse must be reported to a church pastor within twenty-four hours).
  2. Encourage, listen, pray for and with our youth.
  3. Publicize and contact youth for events. You are the hub of our communication with youth.
  4. Participate with the youth team to plan regular activities (note: eventually calling and leading these meetings will be included with these responsibilities). Parents are willing to help- use them.
  5. Help assist in developing, planning, implementing and overseeing the four level Philosophy of Youth ministry.
  6. Promote the spiritual and emotional development of our youth.
  7. Enforce the code of conduct. This is not an area in which relationship supercedes responsibility.
  8. Help identify and involve potential leaders within our youth group.
  9. Recruit assistance, when needed, to oversee events.
  10. Propose ideas for activities and outings.
  11. Participate in youth activities.
  12. Protect and admonish the youth against self-destructive ideas and behavior.
  13. Suggest ideas on how to improve the youth program.
  14. Lead the youth to see themselves as part of the larger church family, and not as a separate entity. Encourage participation in all-church activities including outreach events, worship, and service.
Requirements
  1. Attend a Youth Leadership Training seminar within the next year. The church will cover costs
  2. Meet at least monthly with the Senior Pastor to review goals, receive training and evaluate progress.
  3. Work with the Youth/Parents.
  4. Never be left alone with one of our youth: always assure that another responsible adult is present.
  5. Avoid intimate counseling that could lead to misunderstanding or inappropriate behavior.
  6. Personally abide by the code of conduct.
  7. Never disregard the interests of the parent with a youth unless abuse is involved.
  8. Do not form an intimate relationship with a member of the youth group.
Relationships
  1. You are accountable to the Senior Pastor and meet weekly with him.
  2. You will participate in the planning process at the youth parents meetings with the intent that you will eventually lead these meetings. Involve parents whenever possible
  3. You will form healthy relationships with the youth that allow you to encourage them, mentor them, and identify their interests and concerns.
  4. You will support the Youth teachers (Friday evenings and Sunday School) and use some time at these events to promote activities.
Potential Future Involvement
  1. Build and lead a team who can assist you in building the you program.
  2. Oversee the implementation and progress on the goals.
  3. Address the “Questions for future meetings information.”
  4. Assume the role of “Youth Director or Pastor.”
  5. This will be contingent on training, interest, ability and support.
Length of Agreement This agreement will be reviewed in six months.
Compensation Somewhat negotiable but starts with a $500 a month stipend with all ministry related expenses covered by the church. (Includes gas, training, materials, etc).
